About DJ Logan

2009 was a great year for DJ Logan. He established himself as a must see dj in Bucharest, playing regularly at Studio Martin, The Ark, Expirat, Traian 42 and other adventurous dancefloors across the capital.

He has become a DJ of choice for many of Bucharest’s finest party promoters including Chestionabil, AV Motional, Osataplaca.ro and his own Pisi Love and has seen him play with acts such as Andrew Weatherall, In Flagranti, Golden Bug, Carl Craig and Ed Banger Records.

His style encapsulates everything exciting about electronic music.
There seems to be no limit to Logan’s musical explorations while always keeping a unique flavor that’s remarkably refined and definitely his own, he mixes up house, techno, electro and disco with precision and soul, whilst never losing the focus on the dancefloor.

And so the next chapter begins. This year sees Logan releasing a succession of original tracks, remixes and re-edits and launching Haules Baules as a bona-fide record label.

Next month also sees Logan taking up a bi-monthly residency at a new (as yet unannounced) club in Bucharest which looks set the become the place to be for the capitals forward looking party crowd.

Logan is looking for new dancefloors to ignite. Please take some time to visit his website and check out his mixes, party pics and mp3′s. If you’re looking for a taste of what he plays, a good place to start would be his set at Studio Martin last week.

When dj, Logan Fisher started digitizing his vinyl records over a year ago, he set up a blog so he could share the music that had inspired and motivated him from his esoteric collection spanning almost 20 years. He had relocated from London to Bucharest, where he still resides and decided to call the blog Haules Baules. “Howly what?” I hear you ask. Haules Baules is a slang phrase he stole from the gypsies, (which some people might find ironic) with a rather ambiguous meaning. Some say it means nothing, that it’s just “gobbledygook” whilst others say it’s a slightly offensive greetings which roughly translated means “you have balls!”

Whatever it’s meaning (and if you have any suggestions, we’d love to hear them) Haules Baules has now grown into the dot com site you see before you, complete with a fantastically varied dj mix series, new vinyl recordings being added weekly AND as of April 2010 it’s own music label. Yes, next month sees the conception of HB CUTS, a rework and re-edit label which promises to go that little bit deeper than your run of the mill edits.

Biography

Logan has been dj’ing, making music and running clubs (legal and illegal) for nearly 15 years. His break came with a residency at “The Betty Ford Clinic” at the Gardening Club in London’s Covent Garden. This was London’s best mid week night out and rode the crest of the emerging UK progressive house movement spearheaded by Leftfield and Guerilla Records. Regular wednesday night guests included Paul Daly (Leftfield), Andrew Weatherall (2 Lone Swordsmen), Darren Emerson (Underworld), Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas) Billy Nasty and Danny Rampling.

He then moved onto his own club night “Bumpy Capers” at the now infamous Plastic People. The small club with the huge soundsystem drew an impressive list of homegrown dj’s as well as international talent like D’Julz from Paris. Bumpy Capers released 12″s on West London label Diversity and was crowned 2nd best club of the year in DJ mag, sitting awkwardly between super-clubs Ministry Of Sound and Back To Basics.

Logan spent the next couple of years dj’ing around UK and Europe. He also released tunes on Sven Vath’s Eye-Q Records surrounded by labelmates such as Hardfloor, 16B, Joy Zipper, Freddy Fresh, Mogwai and Sven himself.

The new millenium saw Logan ease off on the music as he forged a career in advertising and design, but he still managed to put on gigs and dj around his neighbourhood of Shoreditch , East London. He put on illegal warehouse parties at Dovebridge studios with labels like Peacefrog and gave Luciano his first ever UK date alongside Marco Passarini from Nature/Pigna Records in Rome.

In 2002 Logan became resident at “Gary’s Bar” an illegal cocktail bar in London’s Shoreditch. This notorious bar was housed in a penthouse loft apartment and with no restrictions laid claim to much unruly behaviour. As word spread it became the haunt of London’s bohemian art scene and attracted a few West London Hollywood celebrities looking for privacy and an authentic night out.

Since 2007 Logan has been living in Bucharest, Romania, a move he made so he could free up some time to concentrate on music production. This year shalll see the fruits of his labour as he launches Haules Baules Records, a true record label dedicated to the more left-field strains of dancefloor goodness.

He is also part of the hugely successful Pisi Love, a party promotion outfit spreading disco goodness to the good people of Bucharest.

When he’s not spinning vinyl Logan is devoted to his other passion, graphic design, and this can be seen in the distinctive style he has created for Haules Baules.
